Nashville, Tenn., (March 2008) — Our Kids Soup Sunday on Sunday, Feb. 24, 2008 was the event's biggest success ever. Hosting more than 1,200 attendees and offering soups from a record-breaking 56 restaurants, Our Kids Soup Sunday has become a grand soup-tasting event.

Friends and families experienced the spacious view of LP Field Club Level West while enjoying fabulous soup, jugglers, face painters, balloon artists and a wonderful silent auction. Celebrity judges including Kyle Vanden Bosch, Chris Sanders and Rudy Kalis tasted soups and handed out these prestigious awards:

Golden Spoon Award (Celebrity Judges Favorite): Lorraine's at Franklin Marriott with Chef Matt Sharpe creating "Crawfish Bisque."

Silver Ladle Award (Most Creative Soup): Ristorante Volare in Opryland Hotel with Chef Maurizio Bussolino making "Tuscan Soup."

People's Choice Award: Cardwell's Market with Charlie Cardwell and Julie Hord creating "McCharlie's Chicken Chilly."

The first Pro-Am Chef's Challenge was a big hit with the early crowd. Professional chefs were paired with culinary students from area high schools. Out of seven teams, the winners were:

First Place: Chef Maurizio Bussolino of Ristorante Volare at Opryland Hotel teamed with Mason Bickery from Blackman High School to create "Autumn Soup with Lemon Grass."

Second Place: Chef Kidd Buffington at Sodexho paired with Chris Massey from Hunter's Lane High School to create "Cream of Wild Mushroom."

Third Place: Chef Mike Cox at Sperry's paired with Clint Kremar to create "Crazy Clint's Southwestern Chowder."

All of the $58,000 raised benefits Our Kids, providing medical evaluations and crisis counseling for children when there are allegations or concerns of sexual abuse. Our Kids is an outpatient clinic of General Hospital and is the only clinic of its kind in Tennessee. Medical providers and social workers are on call 24/7 to provide expert, compassionate care for children and their families struggling with child sexual abuse.
